Polka Dots Zipper Pouch

By Laura Bray

Zipper pouches are one of my favorite gift items to sew. Who doesn’t need more zipper pouches? You can hold make-up, craft supplies, money, or any other small items in them. With Kunin’s new Coordinates felt (Hello! Polka Dots), you can make stylish zipper pouches to hold everything!

Supplies:

  • (1) 9″ x 12″ craft cut of Kunin Black Dot Coordinate felt
  • Aluminor™ in Silver
  • 7” Zipper
  • Sewing machine and basic sewing supplies

Instructions:

Cut (2) 7.5” x 3” pieces of felt

Cut (2) 7.5” x 2” pieces of Aluminor™ fabric

Lay one piece of felt over one piece of the fabric, overlapping approximately ¼”. Sew together. Repeat for second pieces. These are the front and back of your zipper pouch.

Lay zipper against top edge of the front piece of the zipper pouch, wrong sides facing. Stitch in place.

Sew back piece to the other side of the zipper, again with wrong sides facing.

Open zipper a few inches. Fold the back and front pieces together, right sides facing. Stitch along the edge of the two sides and the bottom of the pieces.

Turn pouch out through the unzippered top.

You can now find an expanded color line of Kunin® ClassicfeltKunin® Premiumfelt and Corduroy non-wovens fabrics in cut by the yard at your local Walmart; please inquire as to what is available in your area.
