Felt S’Mores Decorations

With the release of the newest cookie in the Girl Scout product line being S’Mores, this is a great little project to create some cookie selling decorations for a cookie booth or a wagon. It requires minimal stitching which creates a great opportunity for girls to practice with a needle and thread. The finished s’more character can be added to a box of cookies or a banner. I am guessing that girls could probably come up with a dozen more ways to use the pattern too.

To make the s’more character, you will need the following materials and supplies.

  • Kunin eco-fi Classic Felt (9 x 12) in Walnut Brown, Copper Canyon, White, Pink
  • Embroidery Floss in a Variety of Colors
  • Needle
  • Scissors
  • Pattern (Free PDF)

If you are also making the banner, you will need:

  • Sizzix Big Shot Die-Cut Machine
  • Sizzix Laura Kelly Hot Chocolate Die
  • Sizzix Banner, Big Die

Cut out the pieces using the pattern as a guide. You can make it bigger or smaller based on your project. Lay out the pieces in the form you want to stitch them together.

Stitch the pieces together.

Add eyes and a mouth with black embroidery floss.

Add a heart if desired.

Add the completed felt s’more to decorate a box of cookies as a display for a cookie booth.

If you want to make a banner, add the s’more to a segment and create a couple of felt hot cocoa cups with the scraps from making the s’more character. This is easily done with my Flashcard Hot Cocoa die from Sizzix. The pieces go together quickly with felt glue. To hang them, use tiny clothespins and ribbon or rope.

By creating these kinds of decorations, girls are given the opportunity to be a part of the marketing for their sales. It increases self-esteem and offers them a great subject to talk about with customers.

You can now find an expanded color line of Kunin® ClassicfeltKunin® Premiumfelt and Corduroy non-wovens fabrics in cut by the yard at your local Walmart; please inquire as to what is available in your area.

Cheers to Creative Marketing,
