My husband and I love French Press coffee, but it doesn’t stay very warm in the carafe, so I got out my felt, batting, and heat insulting fabric and created a warm cozy for our French Press. Now our coffee not only stays nice and warm, it also looks beautiful. This is a great gift idea for the coffee lover in your life: a French press, a fancy cozy, and a bag of coffee beans.

Supplies:

• 9” x 12” Kunin Felt Gold Dot Coordinates in White
• 9” x 12” Kunin Felt Corduroy in White
• Soft & Toasty™ Batting
• Solarize™ Insulating Thermal Barrier Fabric
• Basic sewing supplies
• Ribbon

Instructions:

Measure the height and circumference of your French Press. You do not need to figure in a seam allowance as we will not be turning out the fabric. Leave space for the spout and the handle.

Cut two pieces of felt, based on your measurements. One for the inside (Corduroy) and the Gold Dot for the outside piece. Also cut batting and insulating fabric ¼ smaller than your measurements.

Make a “sandwich” with the felt and battings. Place your inside fabric, right side down. Next, lay down batting and insulation barrier (with silver side facing down, towards the inside fabric), and finally the dot felt, face up.

Pin in place.

Cut 4 pieces of ribbon, measuring about 6-8 inches in length. Place two on each short end of the sandwich, each one about 1” from the top and bottom.

Using a ¼” seam, stitch around all four edges.

Tie cozy onto the French press and enjoy your hot coffee.
