Kunin Girl Scout Rock Toss Game

Playing games is a great way for kids to learn and grow. Learning the Girl Scout law can be a matter of memorization but without conversations and practice, the words in the law might get lost. Girl Scout says the law at meetings and events but finding time to discuss it is another matter entirely. This game is a great way to make the words come to live and creates meaningful conversation. It is pretty simple to make but can create great things. It is fun rock toss game (could also use bean bags) with a focus on sharing stories while having fun.

You will need the following supplies:

  • Kunin® Premiumfelt in nine colors (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, White, Brown, Pink)
  • Sewing Machine
  • Rocks
  • Printable Game Card

To make the board, sew nine felt squares together. They should measure at least 7 inches each. The larger they are, the easier it for girls. The goal is to talk and learn; not struggle to get the rock on a color. If you want your board to be super darling, add a little die-cut to each square in the same color. When sewing the squares together, use a ziz-zag stitch.

Each girl gets a rock to toss. They stand in a circle around the board and toss their rocks (decorated ones are fabulous), aiming at a color. Then they go around the circle and share which color they landed on, what it means and a time they used this character trait.

After they all go, they initial the color on their game sheet. Once they have earned all the squares, the girls can sign the sheet demonstrating that they have practiced all of the traits.

It is easy peasy and awesome. It is great for meetings, to take camping or to use at an event.

You can now find an expanded color line of Kunin® ClassicfeltKunin® Premiumfelt and ShaggiChic non-wovens fabrics in cut by the yard at your local Walmart; please inquire as to what is available in your area.

Cheers to Girls with Values,
