G.I.R.L Leader Bucket

Girl Scouts has a new way to empower girls and I love it so much. It is not considered a campaign but rather an expression of the Girl Scout brand’s core attitudes, values and history. There is power in every G.I.R.L. A Girl Scout is a Go getter, Innovator, Risk-taker and Leader. I created this G.I.R.L. garland on my meeting bucket to decorate it for this year as a way of reinforcing the four attributes and reminding myself to recognize each of them in every girl.

I cut the letters out with the corresponding colors using dies from Ellison Education and the SuperStar machine. I also cut out 4 ½ by 5 inch felt pieces in black.

Some of the girls love to hand stitch so I had them stitch the letters on to the black pieces. It would have been faster on the sewing machine but it means so much more to be stitched by hand.

The four letters are so bright and happy.

I did use the sewing machine to sew the black pieces with the letters to a long piece of ribbon. Then I tied the ribbon to the handles of my bucket.

Here are a few Girl Scout facts that were shared with me this week. Did you know that 90% of all female US astronauts were Girl Scouts. Did you know that 80% of our female tech leaders are Girl Scouts. 100% of female US secretaries of state are Girl Scouts. Girl Scouts prepares girls for a lifetime of leadership and success.

Being a leader to these girls is such an amazing gift. I love that I get to work with my co-leader to continuously educate them and empower them to access all of these fabulous attributes.

Cheers to Raising the Next Generation of Leaders,
