Create a Popsicle Wreath that won’t Melt!

by Beth Watson

Summer is in full swing! The kids and I were just enjoying some fun and fruity organic popsicles the other day when the idea hit me – how can I create popsicles that won’t melt? Well, with Kunin® Classicfelt™ of course! In a yummy variety of colors embellished with ribbon, lace and fun trims.

Here’s What You Will Need:

  • Kunin® Classicfelt™ 9” x 12” Craft Cuts – Baby Pink, Candy Pink, Baby Blue, Ocean Blue, Bright Lilac, Violet Sky, Lemon Frost, Yellow, Orange, Peach Chiffon, Minty, Lagoon (1 each)
  • 12” Wreath form, flat; 12 Jumbo Craft Sticks
  • Beacon Adhesives Felt Glue; Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
  • Pencil; Ruler; Eraser; Permanent Marker; Scissors; Assorted Ribbons, Lace and Trims – White; plain white paper; chipboard
  • Patterns

Here’s How to Make it

Step One:
Download and print patterns. Cut out, trace on chipboard and then cut out. Trace

Step Two:
With a permanent marker, trace two popsicle shapes onto each of the 12 colors of Kunin® Classicfelt™. Trace two popsicle shadows from Kunin® Classicfelt™ Candy Pink, Ocean Blue, Yellow and Violet Sky. Cut out all shapes with scissors.
TIP: Cut just to the inside of your trace lines, so your project has a clean finish.

Step Three:
Attach each set of popsicle shapes together with Beacon Felt Glue, sandwiching 2” of the jumbo craft stick in between. Then attach the popsicle shadows to the four coordinating, lighter color popsicles.

Step Four:
Attach lace, rick rack, ball fringe and sequin trims to remaining eight popsicles in different patterns with hot glue. This is a wonderful way to use up odds and ends.
TIP: Wet finger, then gently tap the lace into the hot glue, so you don’t burn your fingertips.

Step Five:
Layout the 12 popsicles on the wreath form until you are pleased with the color arrangement and composition. I started at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock and layered the rest in at equal intervals.

Step Six:
Attach popsicles to wreath form with Beacon Felt Glue (or hot glue).

Step Seven:
Tie white ribbon into four bows and attach to popsicle sticks with hot glue.

Here is a detail of the finished wreath.
