Happy New Year!  My resolution is to clean up, clean out and get organized in 2016!  So, first up is getting my craft studio organized.  I have a lot of small supplies that are bulky and hard to store in large containers, so I created these cute felt baskets to keep everything close at hand!  They are easy to grab a hold of, are stackable and can be made in a variety of sizes!  The Eco-fiPlus™ Premiumfelt is perfect for this type of DIY project because it is thicker and holds up well when stitched.

Materials:

• Eco-fiPlus™ Premiumfelt Craft Cuts 12” by 18” – Smoke, Candy Pink and Lagoon

• Hexagon Pattern (Many examples on the web:

• Scissors; Aquarellable Pencil by Stabilo in black and white; Ruler; Embroidery Floss – black, turquoise and pink; Straight Pins; Needle;

Instructions:

1.) Download, print and cut out Hexagon pattern (or make a hexagon pattern in the size of your choice).  Trace one hexagon on Eco-fiPlus™ Premiumfelt Craft Cuts 12” by 18” in Smoke, Candy Pink and Lagoon with Aquarellable Pencil by Stabilo.  Using a ruler, LIGHTLY, mark cut lines as shown in photo and on pattern.

2.) Cut out hexagons.  Mark each line at 4” from the outside edge.  Cut each of these six lines on each hexagon.

3.) Gather and pin first three triangles as shown in photo.  Stitch together where the triangle points intersect.  I use Chenille Needles when I sew Kunin Felt with Embroidery Floss.

4.) Gather and pin second three triangles as shown in photo, making sure to smooth out the felt, so there are no gaps.  Stitch on coordinating decorative buttons with embroidery floss for a finished look.

5.) Repeat with second and third hexagon, then fill and get ORGANIZED!

WARNING:  These Hexagon Baskets may be addictive, so proceed with caution!  They were actually a lot of fun and quite easy to make!

All three took under an hour to make, so you can stitch up a bunch to organize every room in the house!  2016 never looked so good!
