“May the force be with you”…during the holidays. Since its release in 1977 and with following movies, the Star Wars genre is part of our everyday life. While designing this project a commercial for Cover Girl’s new line of Star Wars makeup appeared on the TV. Makeup, Christmas trees, the “force” is everywhere.
For the Star Wars fan here is a wall tree with Yoda inspired garland, Chewbacca and Stormtrooper ornaments. A fun project with ornaments easy to stick on and remove or redecorate for busy little hands.
You will need:
- 9” x 12” craft cuts Kunin Eco-Fi™ Prestofelt™, 1 Black, 1 White, 1 Walnut
- ½ yd cut by the yard Kunin Eco-FiPlus™ Premiumfelt™ , Hunter Green
- Beacon Fabri-tac Adhesive
- ½” 9 Black buttons
- Circle die Sizzix
- Scissors, ruler, Sharpie, pencil, Big Shot, 2 pieces of cardstock
Pattern:
1. Cut an 18” by 27” piece for tree. Fold in half and cut a tree shape.
2. Print out pattern onto both pieces of cardstock. Cut out main outline shapes from one piece and small detail pieces from second piece.
3. Use photos as guide and draw pattern pieces on back of Prestofelt.
4. Layer Stormtrooper black pieces on white background. Peel and press firmly in place.
5. Layer Chewbacca pieces. Peel and stick. Glue on button eyes and nose.
6. Die cut green circles. Cut out one to two-inch leaf shapes for ears.
7. Pinch ends of ears and stick under edge of circles overlapping on an angle across tree for garland. Use largest circle for a tree topper.
8. Peel and stick ornaments to tree. Press firmly in place. Tree topper Yoda ears will affix to wall to hold tree in place.
