Cheryl Boglioli back visiting Kunin Group Blog again.  I love bringing new life to vintage items.  Many of you might remember my vintage trailer, Glinda.  She was in sad shape when I brought her home.  With lots of love, time, sweat, and help from great companies like Kunin, I was able to make her something to be treasured.  While many love to restore back to original condition, I like to preserve as much as I can, but give it life that will be used and appreciated today.

I had a chance to do so again with a vintage cooler that was given to me.  The cooler had seen its better days for sure.  Again, a little time and muscle cleaning it up and a few coats of spray paint breathed new life into this cooler.  You can see that transformation on my blogpost Give New Life to Vintage Cooler.

Even after making it look good, I needed a little extra help making it work too.  The lid was an insulated lid, but the previous insulation was one sheet of old fiberglass (possibly asbestos) insulation.  The inner piece just snapped in, so I removed all the old insulation and cleaned it out (wearing protection of course).  I did not want to put fiberglass insulation back in and the foam sheets I had were too thick, so I decided to use products I had on hand that I knew would work.  Kunin Eco-fi Plus™ Premiumfelt to the rescue.

I traced the inner tin lid onto two pieces of Kunin Eco-fi Plus™ Premiumfelt as well as an extra piece of Fairfield Foam batting and created a sandwich.  I felt very comfortable using Kunin Eco-fi Plus™ Premiumfelt in my project as insulation because:

• It’s made from recycled water bottles.  Yay – eco friendly and recycling
• It resists odor
• It resists mold and mildew as well as deterioration caused by these

Again, the perfect fit for a project I took on.  I’m not worried about anything contaminating the inside of a cooler where I may store drinks and maybe a snack for my road trip.
