Our homes come in all different sizes and varied décor designs. I am blessed that not only do I have my family home to decorate and add my style to, but I also have my art studio and now my vintage travel trailer, Glinda. I think of her (yes, she’s been totally personified) as a tiny home. I am honored that Kunin Group is one of my sponsors with Glinda and my Living the Art Life™ Tours. Decorating Glinda has been the most fun and I am confident that my décor will last when using Eco-fi Plus™ Premium Felt since it is mold, mildew, and odor resistant—the perfect thing for a camper. The fact that it’s made from recycled bottles is an eco-friendly bonus. As I plan the décor for Glinda, I feel like I’m playing with my own personal doll house.  You can see a little more of Glinda in our Glinda the Glamper post.

I wanted to add custom designed pillows inside my tiny vintage travel trailer. By using a pre-made pillow form, pillow case, fusible interfacing, non-fraying felt, and a custom hand-drawn design, I was able to customize throw pillows for my dinette area with no sewing necessary.  You can take this same idea to customize home décor for any room in your house by hand drawing your own design or by using a stencil or even a large open stamp for your design.

Materials:

  • Canvas Corp 12” burlap pillow case
  • Fairfield™ 12” pillow form
  • Fairfield™ Stick double-sided fusible web
  • Kunin Eco-fiPlus™ Premiumfelt
  • Fabric from stash

Tools:

  • Iron
  • Ironing cloth
  • Paper
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Pen

Instructions:

1. Draw your desired pattern onto paper. If you aren’t comfortable drawing your design, you can trace a photo, use a stencil, or even use a large stamped image.

2. Cut out drawn design to cut a pattern. Some designs might have multiple parts. Label the parts so you don’t lose them and you know where they go.

3. Trace pattern onto Kunin felt and fusible interfacing.

4. Cut traced pattern from felt and interfacing.

5. Preheat iron.

6. Rebuild design onto pillow case with matching interfacing pieces between pillow case and felt fabric.

7. Place damp pressing cloth over fabrics design and press with steam and pressure for 20 seconds.

8. Insert pillow form into customized pillow case. Enjoy!
