Watermelon Pillow

by Laura Kelly

I love making BIG things with felt! It is awesome that Walmart has so many colors of Eco-fi brand felt by the yard now. I used red and green to create this giant watermelon pillow for the deck! We sit out there a lot and it is nice to have something soft to lean back on sometimes so this is perfect.

You will need:

  • ½ yard cut by the yard Kunin Eco-fi ClassicFelt™, Red, Green
  • 9” x 12” Craft cuts Eco-fil Classicfelt, 2 Black
  • 1 bag Polyester stuffing
  • Scissors, pinking shears, needle, pins, sewing machine and matching thread

I cut out the green (rind pieces) to the size I wanted, approximately a 24” half circle shape (two-one for each side of the pillow) and a red piece for the fruity part. I trimmed the red an inch or so smaller around the curve.

Then I cut out 4 seeds from one piece of black felt.

I stitched the seeds to the red piece first then sewed the red to the green front using a pretty stitch.

The next step I did was sewing the two sides together, leaving 5 inches open to stuff. I trimmed around the outside of the pillow with pinking shears to make it pretty.

Then I stuffed it and sewed it shut. Ta da!

Happy making BIG things with felt.
