DIY Felt Drink Coozie

Jennifer Priest

I have fond memories of the family sitting around the campfire and sipping sodas from cozies. But why do they have to make the cozies so not-cute? Kunin Eco-fi Felt can be used to insulate a drink and help keep the condensation off your hands just like the material that a drink coozie is made from. I created this pretty floral drink coozie for a lunch party I had but you can use it for every day as well.

DIY Felt Coozie for Root Beer - JPriest

To create your own custom DIY felt drink coozie, gather the following supplies:

Supplies:

• 9” x 12” craft cuts of Kunin Eco-fi Plus™ Premiumfelt in assorted colors
• 9” x 12” craft cuts of Kunin Eco-fi Printzfelt™
• Sewing Machine
• An old drink coozie
• Scissors
• Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks or fabric glue
• Pins
• Permanent or Fabric Marker

Cut open the sides of the old drink coozie so that it will lay flat – this will create the pattern for the felt drink cozies. Pin the coozie (pattern) to a piece of Printzfelt and cut out.

Pin right sides together and sew down each side of the felt to close the coozie.

Cut a spiral of felt and roll onto itself to form a rose. Repeat to create two flowers. Cut two leaves out of a piece of green Kunin Eco-fiPlus Premiumfelt. Stitch down the center of each leaf with the sewing machine to create a vein. Adhere flowers and leaves to the coozie with hot glue or fabric glue.

This is a great way to dress up bottled drinks like root beer, iced tea, and sodas. Try it for your next barbecue or get-together. Make them red, white and blue for the 4th! Here is the step by step video.
