Me and My Peeps Felt Dolls

Summertime is here and the kids will be home for a few months. The first days will be filled with excitement and adventure and then…the “I don’t have anything to do” syndrome will inevitably set in.   Here is a project that can last for days and can be started and stopped throughout the summer months. Create a felt board and “Me and My Peeps” felt dolls. Then, let the fashion designing begin.

You will need the following materials:

  • Rainbow Classicfelt™, 9” x 12” Craft cuts in a variety of colors, 36” width cut from the bolt, Green, Blue for board
  • Laura Kelly’s Pet Shop Collection Dies for Sizzix/Ellison, www.sizzix.com Big Shot by Sizzix
  • Ribbons, Button, Embroidery Floss
  • Scissors and a Needle
  • Aleene’s Max Tacky Glue or Fabric Fusion
  • An old frame or bulletin board to cover

I cut large pieces of blue and green felt from a bolt of felt sold by the yard. You could make this any size, the bigger the better and more fun. This one is meant for travel too so it is a size that works on the go as well as at home. I glued the felt to the board with Aleene’s Tacky Glue.

Here is a free printable download that you can use sharing patterns for the ‘Peeps’ and their base clothing.

You can cut the ‘Peeps’ from different colors of felt to represent different skin tones.

Of course, you will want to add embellishments and details to their clothing to create your own personalities and styles. To add the embellishments, you can stitch or use Aleene’s Tacky Glue.

I love to create projects that are cute and simple so that they can be easily recreated by kids of all ages. I think this one turned out adorable. I have a feeling we will be creating lots more fashion for these felt ‘Peeps’ in the months to come.

Cheers,

Laura Kelly

  1. Oh how cute is this!! My kids always loved playing with felt scenes – so much fun to be able to make your own and much easier that I would have thought!
