DIY Felt Flower Barrettes
By Laura Bray
As far as my daughter and I are concerned, a girl can never have too many accessories, so we spend a lot of time creating cute hair accessories for her long hair. These flower barrettes are so sweet and very pretty. Be sure to make extra for friends!
Supplies:
- Blank hair clips
- Rainbow ClassicFelt™ in a variety of colors
- Needle & thread
- Hot glue gun & glue
- Ribbon
Instructions to make a purple rose hair barrette:
- Cut a 9” x 2” strip of felt.
- Cut scallops along one edge.
- Roll the felt strip. Once the entire strip is roller, stitch the bottom (side without the scallops) together.
- Arrange the petals of the flower, by gently pulling and folding the scallops until you are pleased with how it looks. Add green leaves if you wish.
- Glue a ribbon onto the top of the hairclip, and then glue the felt flower.
Instructions to make a pink rose hair barrette:
- Cut a 9” x 2” strip of felt.
- Cut scallops along one edge.
- If you want to add an embroidery embellishment, stitch around the scallops at the top.
- Stitch a running stitch across the straight bottom of the felt strip. Gently pull and gather the petals together.
- Glue a ribbon onto the top of the hairclip, and then glue the felt flower.
Instructions to make a white flower hair barrette:
- Cut a 9” x 2” strip of felt.
- Cut triangles along one edge.
- Stitch a running stitch across the straight bottom of the felt strip. Gently pull and gather the petals together.
- Stitch a button into the center if desired.
- Glue a ribbon onto the top of the hairclip, and then glue the felt flower.
Too cute Laura!
