At the CHA (Craft and Hobby) trade show the Kunin Group introduced their new felt, Eco-fi Plus™. “Eco-fi Plus is an 8-ounce premium felt that uses natural silver and copper cleansing ions to resist mold, mildew, and odor and is made from recycled plastic bottles.” This luxury weight of felt is ideal for stylish wearables and accessories. Available in ten rich colors, I had to choose the gorgeous red to create a sturdy and stylish iPad case.

You will need:
18” x 36” single piece pack Kunin Eco-fi Plus™, Red

9” x 12” craft cut Kunin Classicfelt™, 1 Black
BigZ Circle die by Sizzix (www.sizzix.com)

Fabri-tac™ by Beacon Adhesives (www.beaconadhesives.com)

Big Shot diecut machine, scissors, ruler, pins, pencil, rotary cutter, cutting mat, sewing machine, black thread

 How to:

  1. Cut a 12” by 27” piece for case. Place ruler at one corner of 12” end of felt piece. Measure 5” up on opposite side of felt piece. Angle ruler at 5” mark. Cut piece off. DQ Kunin Ipad Case BP May 20-14 Photo 2
  2. Fold opposite end of felt over 9” matching side seams. Top stitch on both sides to create pocket as indicated by arrows. DQ Kunin Ipad Case BP May 20-14 Photo 3
  3. Top stitch front flap.
  4. Use circle die to cut circles from both black and red felt or cut three circles using a template, 2 ½”, 2 ¼” and 2”.
  5. Stack circles and glue. Glue to corner of case.

Thirty minutes to make a classy iPad case. How easy is that! I also like the fact that the felt resists mold, mildew and disease causing microbes. I take my iPad everywhere so it is a good feeling to know it is protected in its case.

The weight of the felt makes it a dream to work with. It goes thorough the die cut machine beautifully. Just think of the possibilities, gorgeous pillows, stunning jackets and wraps, coasters, stylish bags! We will be featuring new Eco-fi Plus™ designs coming up on the blog and website! Felt is fabulous!
